There are lots of traditional roofing materials, from metal and slate, to glass and plastic. People are however, beginning to explore more sustainable roofing materials to play their part in saving the environment.

One example is roof gardens. This is exactly what it says, a garden on a flat roof. They are extremely good for heat control. This is because they absorb more of the sun light. Using this type of roof will help to keep your house cooler in the summer, limiting the amount of time you need to use a fan or other cooling systems.

Another option is a solar panel roof. These offer a way to produce electricity to help to run your home. Roofing materials are being reimagined to include solar panels built it.

These are two different materials which you could use over standard materials. These are more sustainable, and much better for the environment.
