Garden roofs have been growing in popularity throughout the UK over the last few years. There could be many reasons for this, but one of them may well be that they provide a great garden environment for homes where that isn’t a possibility in the typical fashion, such as with apartment blocks or homes without any garden space by their home.
To have a garden roof that you can enjoy walking around in, it would need to be a flat roof. Alternatively, you can have some turf laid down on a slanted roof that you can look at from a balcony and enjoy that way, as well as help the environment to an extent by greening an urban environment.
For a flat roof garden, you may need to have the roof redesigned to an extent to ensure that there is adequate water protection, protection from roots (a hard layer that they can’t break through), and that the structure can hold the extra load.
